Privacy policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
This policy explains how focusloop. collects and uses personal information. Your revision plan and progress are private to your account. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Danny Newton is the data controller for this service. Contact [email protected] about privacy or your data protection rights.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: email address, name, year group and a securely hashed password.
- Revision information you enter: subjects, exam boards, course options, availability, teaching status, confidence ratings, grades, assessment dates, results and revision history.
- Purchase information: payment and customer references, purchase status and access period. Stripe processes payment details; we do not receive or store your full card number.
- Technical information needed to operate and protect the service: session cookies, request and error information, and short-lived records used to limit repeated sign-in attempts.
- Messages you send when requesting support or exercising your rights.
Grades, confidence ratings and support notes are optional. Please do not include sensitive personal information in revision notes.
3. Why we use your information
We use account and revision information to provide your personal plan, save your progress and support your account. Our lawful basis is performance of our agreement with you. We use limited technical and support information for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure, resolving problems and responding to requests. We retain necessary purchase records to meet legal accounting obligations.
The planner uses your course choices, availability, teaching status and revision history to suggest sessions. It does not make decisions about admission, school assessment or your eligibility for education. You can change your inputs and reschedule sessions.
4. Children and student privacy
The service is designed for GCSE students. Information and controls are intended to be understandable to students as well as parents. Parents and schools do not automatically receive access to a student's revision history. A parent may pay for access without being given access to the account.
We do not use targeted advertising, public profiles, location tracking or features that share your progress with other students.
5. Service providers and external resources
The application and its database run on infrastructure operated by Danny Newton. Cloudflare provides secure delivery and protection of the website. Stripe processes payments, invoices and the billing portal. Apple’s iCloud mail service sends account verification, password-reset and service emails, including the recipient email address and message content. Apple does not host your revision plan or progress. These providers receive the information needed for their functions and may process information outside the UK under their applicable data protection arrangements.
See the privacy information for Cloudflare, Stripe and Apple. When you follow a revision resource link, that website operates under its own privacy policy. We do not send it your saved grades or revision history.
We may disclose information where necessary to comply with law or protect the service and its users. We do not share it with unrelated advertisers.
6. How long we keep information
We keep your account and revision data while access is active and for up to 90 days after access ends or you request account deletion, whichever occurs first. A deletion request disables sign-in immediately. After that retention period, revision data is erased and account identifiers are anonymised. You may request earlier erasure by contacting us.
Necessary purchase and accounting records are held separately for up to six years after the relevant accounting period. They are not used to continue profiling your revision. Backup copies expire under our backup rotation and are not restored into active use to reverse a deletion. Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to resolve the request and any related legal obligations.
7. Cookies and security
Essential session and security cookies keep you signed in and protect forms against forged requests. We do not add analytics or advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party resource embeds. We use these essential cookies to provide the service you request; they are not optional tracking. External payment and revision websites explain their own cookies when you visit them. Account data is protected by access controls, encrypted connections and password hashing. You should keep your sign-in details private and contact us if you suspect unauthorised access.
8. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can export revision data from Settings, update your course inputs and request account deletion. Email the address above for other requests. We normally respond within one month and may ask for information necessary to verify your identity.
You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Please contact us first if you would like us to resolve a concern.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our handling of personal information changes and notify account holders of material changes where appropriate.
